Solid Steel (24th November) In Hour 1 we welcome Jonti who
released his album 'Tokorats' earlier this month on Stones Throw.
His last album 'Sine & Moon' came out 5 years ago and since then
his life has included collaborating with Mark Ronson, BADBADNOTGOOD,
King Krule and Earl Sweatshirt; recording with The Internet's
Steve Lacy; rehearsing next door to Madlib in the Stones Throw
studio; hanging out with Sean Lennon, and embarking on a 40-date
world tour with Gotye. As well as co-writing three songs for
The Avalanches' long-awaited album Wildflower, Jonti recreated
their pivotal debut album Since I Left You, reverse engineering
3,500 samples and playing with a 17-piece band at a sold-out
performance at the Sydney Opera House. After watching the show,
The Avalanches returned the favour and invited Jonti to join them
in their touring band. 'Tokorats' is out now and features
Odd Future / MellowHype's Hodgy and Big Dada artist Sampa The Great.
He told us;
"This is a mix of my favourite records I collected over the last
few years, songs friends would show me, songs that influenced my
new record Tokorats, and also some unreleased jams from Mohi and Setwun."
