▓█░ We return to dark realms at the ░█▓
▓█░ beginning of 'Bloodstream' but ░█▓
▓█░ with less than two minutes in one ░█▓
▓█░ of the best sequences on the ░█▓
▓█░ whole album sets the track ░█▓
▓█░ alight. Rhythmically its also a ░█▓
▓█░ delight. Slow moody melodies are ░█▓
▓█░ juxtapositioned against bright ░█▓
▓█░ exciting ones, some exploding in ░█▓
▓█░ crashing flourishes as yet ░█▓
▓█░ another storm is whipped up. ░█▓
▓█░ 'The Nature of the Apocalypse' ░█▓
▓█░ starts with vocal colouring as if ░█▓
▓█░ a crowd is taking part is some ░█▓
▓█░ strange ceremony. The mood ░█▓
▓█░ suddenly changes completely as ░█▓
▓█░ the wordless vocal becomes ░█▓
▓█░ somewhat ethereal. Then we get ░█▓
▓█░ another crash and its back to ░█▓
▓█░ chaos and a world of demons. With ░█▓
▓█░ each crash the mood keeps ░█▓
▓█░ changing between tranquil 'good ░█▓
▓█░ vibes' and sounds of a much more ░█▓
▓█░ unwholesome nature. By the third ░█▓
▓█░ minute however things have calmed ░█▓
▓█░ down to a sort of dreamy ░█▓
▓█░ peacefulness. Even so within a ░█▓
▓█░ short time dark edges start to be ░█▓
▓█░ heard again. ░█▓
▓█░ ░█▓
▓█░ By the fifth minute we are back ░█▓
▓█░ to full on sequences involving ░█▓
▓█░ sounds I haven't heard Jim deploy ░█▓
▓█░ before but they fit with his ░█▓
▓█░ style and choice of lead lines so ░█▓
▓█░ well that they could well have ░█▓
▓█░ been in his 'tool bag' for ages ░█▓
▓█░ just waiting for the right time ░█▓
▓█░ to see action. The melody is now ░█▓
▓█░ rather triumphant as if good has ░█▓
▓█░ banished the preceding evil. We ░█▓
▓█░ keep in this vein, though with ░█▓
▓█░ plenty still happening, for about ░█▓
▓█░ the next ten minutes where we ░█▓
▓█░ take a break with just one ░█▓
▓█░ sequence bouncing along quite ░█▓
▓█░ calmly for a short while. Of ░█▓
▓█░ course Jim can't help but add ░█▓
▓█░ another new one to it- then ░█▓
▓█░ another as slowly things become ░█▓
▓█░ more intense again. Loud synth ░█▓
▓█░ stabs tell us that it is time to ░█▓
▓█░ hurtle over the hills again in ░█▓
▓█░ search of bloody carnage- just ░█▓
▓█░ how Jim Kirkwood fans seem to ░█▓
▓█░ like it! With six minutes to go ░█▓
▓█░ we are again given a few seconds ░█▓
▓█░ to regain our breath before once ░█▓
▓█░ again being swept away by a ░█▓
▓█░ glorious avalanche of notes and ░█▓
▓█░ beats. ░█▓
