| | When Icarus Witch burst onto the scene in 2005 with their debut EP, |
| | Roses On White Lace, reviewers clamored to define this unique voice |
| | that snarled unapologetically with an old-school attitude that |
| | defied the trendy ôcoreö bands of the day. Comparisons to Dave |
| | Mustaine, Geoff Tate or John Arch in the press werenÆt uncommon and |
| | vocalist Matthew Bizilia himself probably wouldnÆt argue that |
| | artists like Megadeth, Queensryche and Fates Warning (as well as |
| | Maiden, Priest, and Ronnie James Dio) were a major influence on his |
| | style from an early age. |

| | With the backing of Los Angeles-based Cleopatra Records, Bizilia |
| | and his upstart Pittsburgh classic metal outfit were invited to |
| | contribute to all-star tribute albums honoring bands as diverse as |
| | Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Scorpions, Running Wild, Ozzy Osbourne |
| | and Def Leppard to name just a few. These high-profile appearances |
| | showcased the singerÆs wide vocal range while exposing the band to |
| | a larger audience. They parlayed this exposure into opening slots |
| | for Heaven and Hell and tours with Trouble and Maiden crooner, Paul |
| | DiÆAnno. Matthew and his witches also traveled overseas as a |
| | featured performer for the Headbangers Open Air festival which |
| | helped secure their place as leaders in the burgeoning global |
| | trad-metal resurgence. |

| | While opening for and covering established rock legends proved a |
| | solid strategy to gain exposure, it was the creativity and vision |
| | of the original music that earned Matthew Bizilia the respect of |
| | the worldwide metal community as the lead vocalist on four |
| | consecutive Icarus Witch CDs in as many years: |
| | |
| | Bizilia amicably parted ways with Icarus Witch in 2010 after |
| | collaborating with a variety of highly-skilled guitarists, two of |
| | which he would call upon to help bring his new vision to life in |
| | the guise of Habitual Sins. Steve Pollick (who played guitar on the |
| | first 3 Icarus Witch CDs) and Jim Dofka (who guested on the bandÆs |
| | version of the Priest classic ôThe Ripperö as well as co-writing |
| | and playing on the original "Funeral Wine") both played integral |
| | roles in providing the top-shelf musicianship BiziliaÆs fans had |
| | come to expect for this upcoming debut. |

| | After talking with a number of record labels Matthew found the |
| | ideal business partner for his new vision with Pure Steel Records, |
| | a German label that specializes in traditional heavy metal. With a |
| | release date of the Habitual Sins album, Personal Demons, slated |
| | for January 20, metalheads can look forward to ten new tracks of |
| | vintage metal with a slightly darker, heavier approach than |
| | BiziliaÆs past work. Followers of his early Witch output will be |
| | pleased to hear his patented wails once more. Those who prefer |
| | their vintage metal on the more aggressive side will enjoy the |
| | grittier more sinister direction Matthew took with his vocals on |
