│║ ║ │
│║ Description : ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Rusty Cooley is a guitarist that, while not ║ │
│║ extremely well known, is completely amazing and ║ │
│║ is without doubt one of the best (in my opinion ║ │
│║ the best) guitar players in the world. Even ║ │
│║ people that know him rarely know how great he ║ │
│║ really is and I can't believe that NO ONE has ║ │
│║ reviewed this album yet. The compositions often ║ │
│║ consist of very melodic sections and cool ║ │
│║ rhythms along with keyboard parts to add to the ║ │
│║ melody, all the compliment this extreme display ║ │
│║ of shredding madness. It is hard to review an ║ │
│║ album when there are no words to describe its ║ │
│║ greatness. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Lets go to around A 5:08 in Dark Matter where it ║ │
│║ has a very cool section of him shredding which ║ │
│║ then at 5:33 tranfers to different leads, while ║ │
│║ still being a form of shredding. This continues ║ │
│║ into some very melodic leads and then goes into ║ │
│║ almost kind of the "chorus" of the song, which ║ │
│║ is furthered by more leads then goes back into a ║ │
│║ great section that was also in a previous part ║ │
│║ of the song. The song is amazing and though ║ │
│║ there are repeated sections, is far from ║ │
│║ repetitive. These sections give more of a ║ │
│║ structured feel as well as a sense of direction. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Another amazing song is "the butcher" (im only ║ │
│║ being selective for reviewing purposes, all ║ │
│║ songs on the album ar enothing short of ║ │
│║ astonishing). It starts of with some catchy ║ │
│║ riffs and then goes into his leads while ║ │
│║ continueing the rhythms until, at around 35 ║ │
│║ seconds into it, it goes into a section starting ║ │
│║ with some of the awesomest leads ever written. ║ │
│║ Total shredding insanity. Yngwies never written ║ │
│║ anything this catchy, besides the fact that ║ │
│║ Cooley is a better player than yngwie skill, ║ │
│║ accuracy, speed, and technique wise. Around 1:45 ║ │
│║ it repeats the leads at the begining while ║ │
│║ instead of going into his shredding, transition ║ │
│║ into rhythms, and good rhythms they are. This ║ │
│║ continues with some keyboard in the backroudn ║ │
│║ for melody purposes, until about 2:30 which is ║ │
│║ one of best technical parts of the song. This ║ │
│║ AMAZING section continuesuntil about 3:18. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Then there is also Under the influence, which ║ │
│║ while being completely awesome, is better to see ║ │
│║ in a video because your eyes will wonder how the ║ │
│║ fuck hes doing that when you see it. It starts ║ │
│║ of with keybaords making up the first part and ║ │
│║ then going to some soulfull leads which lead ║ │
│║ into an uptempo keyboard part which is fun and ║ │
│║ catchy. These keyboard notes lead into a cool ║ │
│║ (still uptempo) lead section which then (while ║ │
│║ kicking ass in the process) transitions into the ║ │
│║ best part of the song starting at 2:52. The ║ │
│║ keyboard, rhythms and amazing leads blend in ║ │
│║ with total perfection and are stunning and after ║ │
│║ this section theres even more... Greatly ║ │
│║ composed! ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ The last song I am going to talk about is ║ │
│║ probably my favorite off of the album and is ║ │
│║ titled "the duel". It immediately starts of with ║ │
│║ soem great rhythms and goes into a CATCHY-AS- ║ │
│║ FUCK lead section that is basically used as the ║ │
│║ chorus as the song. I mean how am I supposed to ║ │
│║ describe everything in this song? The melodies, ║ │
│║ the sweeps, its all-out amazing guitar! There is ║ │
│║ some great keyboard playing on this song which ║ │
│║ is necesary to make the song as amazing as it is ║ │
│║ considering it goes back and forth from the ║ │
│║ keybaords to Rustys shredding. Hence the title ║ │
│║ "the duel". The shredding at 3:33 will blow you ║ │
│║ away and if it doesn't then you're probably ║ │
│║ either deaf or hate guitar. This is in my ║ │
│║ opinion probably the greatest intrumental piece ║ │
│║ ever written and though no one denys his amazing ║ │
│║ playing, his composing skills have been ║ │
│║ questioned and this song takes all those ║ │
│║ questions and those them right out the fucking ║ │
│║ window! ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Overall: There are no flaws to this album. ║ │
│║ Anyone that says this is a repetitive album ║ │
│║ apparently doesn't like directions and wants to ║ │
│║ hear random music without composition, because ║ │
│║ all the parts that are repeated fit perfectly ║ │
│║ and are placed at exactly the right time, making ║ │
│║ them more than necesary. The only thing about ║ │
│║ any of the songs is if you are not used to ║ │
│║ listening to band/music with good guitar playing ║ │
│║ (in this case undescribably great) then this ║ │
│║ album might blow your head right the fuck off! ║ │
│║ The only thing better in the department of ║ │
│║ instrumentals than listening to this album, is ║ │
│║ watching him play them! ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Yngwies songs don't hold shit to Cooleys in my ║ │
│║ opinion and this album is mostly done on a 7- ║ │
│║ string Ibanez yet Cooley can play 6-7-8-AND-9 ║ │
│║ more than just extremely good, theres no real ║ │
│║ words to describe it. ║ │
│║ This isn't an album that stops all the time just ║ │
│║ so you can hear him show-off. These are REAL ║ │
│║ songs.s ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Should you get this album? Of course! ║ │
│║ In fact, why the fuck DON'T you have the ║ │
│║ album... ║ │
│║ GET IT NOW!!!!!!! ║ │
│║ Absolutely essential for any fans of ║ │
│║ metal/guitar/and instrumentals in general. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ MORE people need to review this album, its more ║ │
│║ than worth the time to give credit to such an ║ │
│║ amazing player and to review the album you have ║ │
│║ to listen to it enough times, which is a reward ║ │
│║ in itself. ║ │
