large basslines, silly vocal snippets and lovingly clipped breaks to
bamboozle you with. Be afraid, mere Southlings, this is the funk from
up north - and it will damage the resale value of your house.
ôWe Have The Technologyö kicks off proceedings here with the kind of
low-slung, wobbly squelcher that would have you reaching for your ônu
breaksö lexicon if it werenÆt for the perfectly chopped drumbreak
which gives the whole thing the air of a track for the kind of
poppers and lockers who do poppers while eating lox. Second track
ôDustbowlö is a slow disco tune with folk overtones û the kind of
redneck soul which makes Stockport the Memphis of Britannia.
Meanwhile, the title track for the forthcoming album, ôMusicÆs Made
Of Memories,ö comes through like some ambient piece about future
fucking from TomorrowÆs World circa 1982. Only with a much better
samba rhythm than anyone could ever find on pre-set. Especially in
1982.
Treva Whateva is a Manc legend, having started his career working at
Boom! Tunes, (mis)managed Fat City, helped to compile their ôMystic
Brew: compilations and been the longtime host of Hot Pot Radio
alongside his chum, simple pie man Mr Scruff. He has also recorded
for Skint as well as Ninja and remixed everyone from Electralane to
Fingathing. He also has a very short attention span. Now, where was
