If you like fast, in-your-face ║ │ │║ guitar with a sense of control and wildness at ║ │ │║ the same time, you like this CD. (Put another ║ │ │║ way, if you don't care for guitar-oriented ║ │ │║ music, you probably won't like it.) This CD has ║ │ │║ Joe playing in a vocal-band situation, unlike ║ │ │║ his solo CD's which are entirely instrumental. ║ │ │║ However, "Second Coming" does feature two ║ │ │║ instrumentals - "Sonata Hypnotica" and the ║ │ │║ closing track, "Tapping Toccata". ║ │ │║ The musical approach is fun. Take maybe a dash ║ │ │║ of Yngwie's more commercial tracks, mix in some ║ │ │║ Rainbow (the heavier side of Rainbow) and you'll ║ │ │║ start to get a picture. Joe still fits lots of ║ │ │║ great guitar parts. The vocalist, Brain Troch, ║ │ │║ sounds more like Graham Bonnett and Dougie White ║ │ │║ than Ian Gillian, Joe Lynn Turner or even Ronnie ║ │ │║ Dio. I'm using those vocalists as reference ║ │ │║ because Reign of Terror seems to get compared to ║ │ │║ Deep Purple and Rainbow. ║ │ │║ Overall, it's a cool rock album. The lyrics are ║ │ │║ pretty stock stuff but you know what? It's a ║ │ │║ darn fun album to listen to and Joe does a great ║ │ │║ job of complimenting the music.
