Five Minute Ride was originally formed in '02 and signed to an
indie based label out of Sacramento CA called 720-Records. The
band released their first EP entitled Bathroom WallsàLipstick
Secrets". They received a strong fan base in Northern California
after consistently playing local shows spreading from Oakland to
San Jose, and Sacramento. On August 10th of '03 the band
experienced the unexpected death of their close friend and band
mate Alex Poole. After this tremendous loss, plans of the future
for the band were unknown. With new inspiration to follow his
(Alex's) dream, the band picked up where they had left off and
worked even harder. The healing process was aided by their fans
and close family members, whom they can not praise enough. With
the movement of Josh Dayley to guitar (who previously played
bass and was Alex's close friend) and the addition of DJ Rogers
to fill in for Josh on Bass, the band has a new outlook on life
and music. In the past year the band has workedto recover the
beautiful sounds they created with Alex while developing a new
innovative style that they may call their own. Stretching out
and collecting influence from bands such as Refused, Converge,
Glassjaw, The Mars Volta, AFI, American Nightmare and many
others, they have strived to create a record that pleases many
fans but most of all pleases their musical hunger. They have now
completed "The World Needs Convincing of All its Missing" which
was recorded and produced by Kurt Ballou (Converge) at Godcity
Studio in Salem MA. The band has recently signed to Rise Records
who will help promote in spreading Five Minute Ride's music to a
broader audience across the nation. This band continues to grow
through the trials and tribulations of life forming a Family
like bond to always overcome differences, and to continue to
make beautiful music. The band's
newest EP is set to release on February 15th of 2005. Through
many member changes and differences, the band is no longer
active as of December 2005.
