Electrical Circuit Theory and Technology is a fully
comprehensive text for courses in electrical and
electronic principles, circuit theory and electrical
technology. The coverage takes students from the
fundamentals of the subject, to the completion of a
first year degree level course. Thus, this book is
ideal for students studying engineering for the first
time, and is also suitable for pre-degree vocational
courses, especially where progression to higher levels
of study is likely.
John Bird's approach, based on 700 worked examples
supported by over 1000 problems (including answers),
is ideal for students of a wide range of abilities,
and can be worked through at the student's own pace.
Theory is kept to a minimum, placing a firm emphasis
on problem-solving skills, and making this a thoroughly
practical introduction to these core subjects in the
electrical and electronic engineering curriculum.

Why the PNGs?
The process by which a treeware tome is transformed
into a digital reincarnation of its former self is
an arduous and perilous one. The deceptively
simplistic four-step skeletal structure of said
process is as follows:
i. scan book
ii. OCR book
iii. proofread book
iv. format book
Despite the prevalence of the mistaken belief that
the first step--the scanning--is the most time
consuming process, a standard 200-page volume can
easily be scanned in under an hour at the standard
acceptable settings of 300dpi, grayscale.
No, the fun starts after the book has been OCRed
(whereupon the image of the text becomes transformed
into actual ASCII/Unicode characters). OCR engines
being the error prone little bastards that they are,
the existence of errors following the OCR process in
the text is all too commonplace.
Thus, the text must be carefully proofread not only to
remove misspelled words (and to double-check to make sure
they weren't intentionally misspelled in the treeware
edition), but must also remove the occasional artifacts
that were not but dust on the page and yet were
considered to be valid characters by the OCR engine, and
other such nuisances.
Throughout this process, one must have the original
pages (either the original treeware or the scanned
images) on hand for quick reference to make sure that
one has remained faithful to the treeware copy, our
de facto critical edition, such as there is.
The proofreading process thus takes significantly longer
than the actual scanning, not to mention that it is often
best to have more than one person proof the book for
increased accuracy.
Thus, we will now be releasing a large portion of our library
in the form of high-quality PNG images.
You are free to OCR/proofread them yourselves, and then
redistribute them amongst friends and loved ones.
Or, if you just want an easy way to view the PNGs, simply
load them into an image viewer that allows for zoom-lock,
such as ACDSee.
