Vance Orchestra is the dutch duo active for
many years but under various names so one
probably couldn't be succeed to trace all
their appearances. Vance Orchestra are known
after their brilliant 7 inch single released
by Drone Records, followed by outstanding
full-time albums released by labels like
Noctovision, Noise Museum, Rund Um Den
Watzmann and EE tapes. These are really rare
because of small edition sizes. Moscow based
lablel Waystyx wasnt't presumed to break up
this tradition and released the newest Vance
Orchestra work in extra limited edition 100
copies.
"Drek" is one half-hour suite divided into
six parts, but there are no real tracks, so
listeners are allowed to define boundaries
between them. The most important point of
Vance Orchestra work is recycling, they
usually like to adopt someone else's music,
grabbed from old tapes and records. There are
some variations inbetween - some old
electronic tunes from the trash-fiction
cinema , abstract noises and vinyl crackies.
Sometimes musicans just like to play with
little music fragments, looping them and
applying various effects step by step and
layer after layer. The final result is highly
surreal music consisting of slowly changing
images of the underworld scenes, hard to
comprehend and remember. The must for all of
you conundrum admirers, just not put it aside
when you'll ever come across this one.
