     This video demonstrates the support for remote event receivers
     in SharePoint 2013 using Visual Studio 2012. In previous
     versions of SharePoint you could create event receivers on the
     SharePoint server. Now, you can deploy event receivers remotely
     in a WCF Service. This allows you to respond to SharePoint 2013
     events from a WCF Service and implement business logic or
     trigger business processes outside of SharePoint. This opens up
     a lot of possibilities that were not available previously. This
     will complement the functionality of Business Connectivity
     Services and provide another way to interact with resources
     outside of the SharePoint process.
