│ Classic EP from the long-running influential │
│ German trance label, NOOM Records. It was │
│ founded in 1993 by Joachim Keil as part of │
│ the Undercover Music Group (aka UCMG), │
│ alongside other notable German labels such as │
│ Phuture Wax, Plastic City, Global Ambition, │
│ and Time Unlimited. Many of the releases │
│ were either composed, remixed, or produced by │
│ the in-house engineer Commander Tom. The │
│ label went on to issue over 70 singles and │
│ nearly 20 albums in its lifespan, before the │
│ bankruptcy of UCMG forced it to shut down. │
│ Will it ever be resurrected someday? Only │
│ time will tell... │
│ │
│ This particular release is the vinyl version │
│ of the 33st release on the label, CFC-12's │
│ "Rest In Hell EP". Quite possibly the │
│ hardest, most banging release that NOOM ever │
│ had the foresight to release; additionally, │
│ quite possibly the lowest selling release out │
│ of all of them, due to the drastic change in │
│ sounds expected of the label. The A-side is │
│ a bumping tech-house mix by Timo Maas that │
│ would be more friendly on Phuture Wax or │
│ Plastic City, but is damn well produced for │
│ what it is. On the flipside you have UK │
│ free party scene stalwarts Chris Liberator │
│ and DAVE The Drummer turning in a banging │
│ acid techno rendition, as would be expected │
│ of the Routemaster boys. Finally, the │
│ original mix rounds things out in an almost │
│ industrial influenced style, heavy on the │
│ reverb. All in all, an excellent release, │
│ but definitely not for everybody. │
