Philadelphia's Pattern is Movement embodies a myriad of characteristics and 
identities that comprise a soothingly subtle, yet intricate sound, a sound 
that exists to create a story in its melody. With The (Im)possibility of 
Longing, Pattern is Movement draw breath from an aesthetic that has been 
long neglected in today's retro-obsessed rock realm. They defy the 
not-so-contemporary trends by building a rhythmically anchored sound, layered 
with guitars lines that dangle in suspended animation, meandering only when 
melody commands them. "We approach songwriting as if every piece is like the 
first time we discovered music," said Pattern is Movement vocalist and 
multi-instrumentalist Andrew Thibeldeaux. "We wanted this record to touch a 
part of the listener that they didn't know was there all along."
