| | The second release in Moonshine Music's | |
| | long-running and influential "Speed Limit 140 | |
| | BPM+" series, collecting the best of early | |
| | hardcore jungle techno. This volume is one | |
| | of the brightest releases in the original | |
| | series of eight, and is still a personal | |
| | favorite to this day. | |
| | | |
| | Highlights have to include... well, pretty | |
| | much the entire thing. There's not a weak | |
| | track in the batch. I find it desperately | |
| | hard to pick a favorite, though high marks | |
| | definitely have to go to the two offerings | |
| | from Production House, especially the wicked | |
| | reworking of "SOS" by DMS. Also, the quality | |
| | of the original vocal version of Goldie's | |
| | "Kemistry" cannot be stated enough. And the | |
| | trio of tracks from the Ibiza Records camp | |
| | are three of the best productions they ever | |
| | released, especially the first tune from | |
| | Chris McFarlane under his Potential Bad Boy | |
| | guise (still going strong 12 years later!). | |
| | | |
| | If you enjoy drum and bass, jungle, or | |
| | hardcore, you owe it to yourself to listen to | |
| | this collection of classics from the | |
| | innovators, originators, and legends. Sorely | |
| | out of print at this point, and more than | |
| | likely will not be re-released anytime soon | |
| | (more's the pity). Grab it while you can! | |

| | The original CD of this was advertised by | |
| | Moonshine as being "continuously mixed". In | |
| | reality, their mixing consisted of quick | |
| | edits from one track to another, and placing | |
| | the track marker about a second before the | |
| | next track actually starts. I have taken the | |
| | liberty of fixing the track points to where | |
| | they should properly have been in the first | |
| | place. All abrupt endings are as they appear | |
| | on the disc. | |
| | | |
| | Additionally, there are certain audio defects | |
| | that appear on the disc and have not been | |
| | retouched. For example, about 1:03 into DJ | |
| | Aphrodite's "Raw Motion", you may notice | |
| | something that sounds like an audio skip. | |
| | This was present on the original copy and is | |
| | presumably an artifact of bad mastering on | |
| | the part of Moonshine Music. | |
