██▓▓ Steve Stoll was born in Staten Island New ██▓▓
██▓▓ York in July of 1967. A very early interest ██▓▓
██▓▓ in music led him to begin formal drum ██▓▓
██▓▓ studies at the age of 10, and by his teens ██▓▓
██▓▓ he was actively studying jazz while playing ██▓▓
██▓▓ in the loudest hardest bands he could find ██▓▓
██▓▓ around town. ██▓▓
██▓▓ ██▓▓
██▓▓ He had begun experimenting with Simmons ██▓▓
██▓▓ synth-drums, samplers, various electronics ██▓▓
██▓▓ as well as drum machines back in the time ██▓▓
██▓▓ when drummers found them to be their biggest ██▓▓
██▓▓ threat. ██▓▓
██▓▓ ██▓▓
██▓▓ In the late 80's he put his sticks and ██▓▓
██▓▓ electronics together and played as a ██▓▓
██▓▓ drummer/ programmer for the Chicago based ██▓▓
██▓▓ Industrial label Wax Trax!. Eventualy ██▓▓
██▓▓ becoming disenchanted with the idea of ██▓▓
██▓▓ playing in bands, Steve set out on his own ██▓▓
██▓▓ in the early 90's to produce music which ██▓▓
██▓▓ would be almost entirely percussion driven ██▓▓
██▓▓ with the emphasis on shifting grooves, ██▓▓
██▓▓ textures, and not based on the structure of ██▓▓
██▓▓ typical Western music (verse, chorus and so ██▓▓
██▓▓ on.) ██▓▓
██▓▓ ██▓▓
██▓▓ Steve has since successfully released ██▓▓
██▓▓ records on labels such as Richie Hawtin's ██▓▓
██▓▓ Probe (DataCloud), New York's Synewave ██▓▓
██▓▓ (Ausgang, Voyager 8 / Damon Wild) Chicago's ██▓▓
██▓▓ Trax, Holland's Djax (Storm), Germany's Fax ██▓▓
██▓▓ (Hemisphere w/ Pete Namlook), as well as ██▓▓
██▓▓ many remixes to his credit including Gary ██▓▓
██▓▓ Numan and HardFloor. ██▓▓
██▓▓ ██▓▓
██▓▓ In addition, his tracks have appeared on ██▓▓
██▓▓ countless compilation projects. Over the ██▓▓
██▓▓ years Steve has gone on to sign album deals ██▓▓
██▓▓ with New York's Profile Records, England's ██▓▓
██▓▓ NovaMute Records, in addition to currently ██▓▓
██▓▓ being signed to Belgian label Music Man. All ██▓▓
██▓▓ this is of course while still maintaining ██▓▓
██▓▓ his status as the owner/producer of Proper ██▓▓
██▓▓ NYC For many years now Steve has been ██▓▓
██▓▓ appearing live at events all over the world, ██▓▓
██▓▓ and he continues to spread the sound of ██▓▓
██▓▓ Proper on a global scale. ██▓▓
