hand polished is the production name of toronto resident, ray
kong. ray grew up listening to new wave & electro in the 80's. in
the subsequent 90's he began to broadening his audio pleasures
with the sound of 70's funk, jazz & fusion. when he began to make
music he fused these many influences into one funky melting pot to
define the style of what would become hand polished.
hand polished also had material released on guidance in usa, good
looking in the uk as well as recently completing a mix for daniel
maag for the compost label in germany.
on the flipside, tru thoughts records & prolific brighton based
wonder boy producer, quantic, gives the original the once over for
a beefy beat riddim rhythm where the guitar becomes the focus
point for the melody before snatches of brass stabs come in.
the ep finishes with a remix from hand polished himself under the
hand in hand moniker beginning in a sea of muted percussion before
picking up on the bass line and making a broken groove thang.
