after all being at the same school together in middlesborough,
dave cox and bryan robson ran into aimee craddock again at the
jazz flavoured bing bong rooms in newcastle in 1996. there, due to
a shared interest in south american music, they drank the night
away with a large bottle of tequila and nemo was born.
bryan and dave had been looking for the perfect vocalist for their
new songs-modern latin production with a gothic twist and aimee's
unique vocals suited their sound perfectly. the resulting demos
provoked a flurry of excitement amongst the country's eclectic
labels, but rather than sign the customary three album deal for a
tenner, nemo decided to take a different route. they pressed five
hundred 7" singles with two impeccable tracks "darkest day" and
"faded" which were loved by those lucky enough to get hold of a
copy. if you can imagine burt baccharach busking with massive
attack on the south bank of the seine with astrid gilberto on
vocals, you are getting close to what nemo evoke on that record. a
sound of summer.
