| CD1 of "TRANSPHORMED" presents all the ALTER EGO remix classics |
| that have significantly influenced the "TRANSPHORMER" album. A |
| massive breakthrough was the remix of THE HUMAN LEAGUE's "All I |
| Ever Wanted" which managed the amazing feat of leaving all of Phil |
| Oakey's vocals in their normal song structure and yet making them |
| so ingeniously abstract that the title was acclaimed on an |
| international scale and catapulted ALTER EGO into a higher league |
| of remixers. Conversely, on the mix for CHICKS ON SPEED in which |
| the vocals have been re-assembled into a totally new hook and the |
| Gang Of Four and ABC samples lead the track into a mutated |
| "hi-energy" groove for a dark dancefloor. Of course it was a great |
| honour to create a mix for the "godfather" of all remixers, Andrew |
| Weatherall. After all, it was he who transmorphed an entire scene |
| of boring guitar pop bands into the nineties with his productions |
| with Primal Scream and remixes for My Bloody Valentine at the end |
| of the eighties. ALTER EGO change the Weatherall produced PRIMAL |
| SCREAM song "Autobahn 66" into a psychedelic Kraut techno monster |
| in a way that is hard to find in a normal club context. |
| In addition, several brand-new ALTER EGO remixes indicate the |
| direction the productions could be heading. For example, the work |
| for the current TIEFSCHWARZ single called "Wait And See" which |
| sees the techno-rock outfit of the original remodelled into a |
| bizarre reference engine that gets rock, techno and acid clichΘs |
| to perform the most outrageous capers. |

| The remixes on CD 1 have deliberately been compiled in album |
| format so as to build up the tension, instead of just putting the |
| tracks in chronological order of their creation. |
| The mixes on CD 2 are titles exclusively taken from the |
| "Transphormer" album, and, as mentioned above, tracks that have |
| been reworked by various producers as part of the remix exchange |
| project. They are thus not all stylistically homogenous, but |
| display a large variety of different approaches. This is best |
| exemplified by comparing SOLVENT, an eclectic electro pop talent, |
| with the hi-tech streamline approach of TIEFSCHWARZ. The |
| psychedelic minimalist underwater sound of RICARDO VILLALOBOS |
| meets the technoid functionality of EWAN PEARSON, and ISOL╔E's |
| playful soul shuffle brushes against the fast brutal effectiveness |
| and lucidity of ERIC PRYDZ. The musicians' meticulous work with |
| the source material and, in some parts, abstract way back to their |
| own sound cosmos is what makes these processes so exciting. |
| Another deciding aspect for the sound of the last ALTER EGO phase |
| is the live performance by the duo Roman Flⁿgel and J÷rn Elling |
| Wuttke. |
| The still on-going "Transphormer" tour covers all the important |
| clubs and festivals around the world. Film producer Romuald |
| Karmakar accompanied ALTER EGO to a few live gigs in order to get |
| material for his new cinema release "Between The Devil And The |
| Wide Blue Sea". He was kind enough to provide two film clips for |
| this project which, thanks to their cinematic minimalism, |
| impressively prove that, despite all the technology, this type of |
| music can only come into being in the form of an exchange between |
| the performer and the audience. |
