Review: A Portsmouth lad done good, Junior Gee makes a welcome return to 8bit Records after the success of the Kerfuffle EP last year. On "Brothers" his approach to tidy, functional deep house keeps the percussive loops rolling steadily while the atmospheric sweeps of distant vocal add a touch of fluffy soul. "Don Berrioni" meanwhile turns the heat up with a tougher groove, bouncing off a hooky chord stab that could fill a big room without losing the depth of the overall production, before DJ tool "Shinjuku Playground" drops a strict beat to be worked in all manner of mixes. "Something About Me" gets a touch more playful to round the EP off with a solid vocal lick that worms its way into another steadfast tech house roller.
