It is the debut lp of multi-instrumentalist and
producer Barry Leake, who with a combination of
laptop manipulation
and live instrumentation and sampling gives us a
soundtrack to the Cactus Island sound containing
elements of sound that have been part of our lives
for many years right up to the present day and
into the future.
'Of the nature tone' is where old merges with new
and morphs into a unique jazz-fused, electronica
capsule. melodies that creep into your body and
soul, electronic, processed beats, synthezisers
and live percussion run alongside each other and
flutes and guitars carry you off to another place
and time. Barry is based in Sunderland, where he
moved to in the early 90's to study fine art.
Since moving there he has played in several bands,
deejayed, composed soundtracks for multimedia
cinema and museum performances and helped run
workshops for youth groups and the unemployed.
Weave has been Barry's main creative focus in
recent years, of which some of the fruits appear
on 'Of the nature tone'.
Limited on 500 for the world. Don't miss this one
