Release Notes:
or the last decade, Lorin Ashton has helped develop the North
American underground dance music scene. The North American
underground dance music scene. From touring full time as a DJ (an
average of 125 shows per year), to his production & remixing under
the alias Bassnectar, he has amassed a dedicated fan base,
crossing over from hip hop to electronica to breakbeat to
ragga/dub to the jam band scene and the greater Burningman Scene.
Recently signed to Organic Music, Bassnectar is ready to explode.
His futuristic blend of deep, driving, hypnotic music has been
developing a fanatical beatfreak legion throughout the globe.
From sold-out shows & festivals to overcrowded clubs and
warehouses to tight and tiny bars and venues; Bassnectar has
played throughout the United States and Canada, Hawaii, and
Mexico, as well as touring to countries such as New Zealand,
Australia, UK, Japan, and Germany. He has remixed and
collaborated with the likes of KRS One, Heavyweight Dub Champion,
Michael Franti & Spearhead, Buckethead, The String Cheese
Incident, Saul Williams, Noam Chomsky, Cheb I Sabbah, Sound Tribe
Sector 9, Crash Berlin, Landslide, and Perry Farrell.
"Take the melodies of Radiohead or Massive Attack, the dance force
of The Crystal Method or Freq Nasty, the groove of Theivery
Corporation or Kruder & Dorfmeister, and the artistic
experimentation of Burningman madness and full time DJ-experience,
and you get a window of what might be expected on the next
Bassnectar album." -- San Francisco Examiner
