The Vicious label is at it again, this time with a
compilation CD mixed by MelbourneÆs well respected
house DJ John Course. The CD itself actually comes
with instructions for listening from Course himself û
ôPut the CD in, move the furniture and dance around
your lounge room at full volume. I promise you the
neighbours wonÆt complain; well, not much anyway.
Enjoy the tunesö. With a tracklist stacked with a
number of the biggest summer anthems, these
instructions appear to be more than pertinent to the
listening of the CD.
Overall, the mix more than achieves its aim of getting
bodies moving and dancing. Course starts the mix out
on a much lighter tone and then gradually eases his
way through a range of popular tracks; slowly building
the pace and tempo. The result is a funky house
journey which is an essential addition to anyoneÆs
record collection who finds themselves humming along
to the radio when tracks like Nasty Girl or Midas
Touch get a spin.
Getting the mix underway is the track Something About
You û Live Element, which offers a smooth and light
uplifting house sound û establishing the predominant
4/4 beat line which ensues for the mixes entirety.
Tracks to
follow continue on this light yet still rather rocking
note until the undeniably funked up sounds of Funk
Club û Rob Care come into full effect and the jazzy
sounds of the saxophone teamed with the smooth
accompanying beats makes for the perfect transition
from light to funky.
The establishment of this uber funky sound is
continued through with a number of tracks until the
æso hot right nowÆ track of the moment: Midas Touch û
Midnight Star (Starskee Remix) is dropped. This more
energetic and pumped up sound continues through with
Put Em High û Stonebridge (Seamus Haji Mix) right
through to the second last track: Vandalism û Girls
and Boys which is still on a high, rocking airwaves
and dance floors world wide. Course brings his house
music journey to an end with the massive club hit

CourseÆs mixing is smooth and very clever as he
manages to weave through a number of different
sounding tunes whilst maintaining the flow and overall
rhythm. His track selections are of the party kind and
