Joe Patitucci and David Bohl formed Diagram (then under the
name Menocu) in the summer of 2003. Their self-titled 2004
demo geined them local recognition as they shared the stage
with Camera Obscure, Don Caballero, Bardo Pond and Euphone
among others.
Joined in late 2004 by laptop musician, Alex Tyson, the band
has become a true force of versatile musicianship and audio
exploration. Dense layers of guitars, vocals, bass, keys,
samples and synthesizers contribute to a form of experimental
post-rock previously unheard.
Apart from working magical wonders in the studio, Diagram
captivates audiences with blissfully resonant live
performances. Their sound leaves no frequency unexplored as
complex layers of lost audio, dream-like guitars, and
PA-driven soundscapes generate chest-thumping beats and
textures recalling Music Has the Right to Children-era Boards
of Canada and the best bits of Kraftwerk or My Bloody
Valentine.
