         █░█    When Leah Abramson is accused of being another     █░█
         █░█    music school drop-out gone bad, she likes to sing  █░█
         █░█    to people about her past-life saving herself from  █░█
         █░█    sea monsters and zombies, last month when she cut  █░█
         █░█    all the gerberas from her loverÆs neighbourÆs      █░█
         █░█    yard, or her plan to skip town in the middle of    █░█
         █░█    the night. Experimenting with a rotating cast of   █░█
         █░█    musician friends on keyboards, fiddle and          █░█
         █░█    accordion, Leah now crafts her indie folk-noir in  █░█
         █░█    East Vancouver, singing with her hollow-body       █░█
         █░█    electric guitar the unusual songs that people      █░█
         █░█    shut up to listen to. Dark and melancholic, her    █░█
         █░█    songs have both sweet and sad undertones, without  █░█
         █░█    the kind of art-kid pretension that makes a        █░█
         █░█    dictionary an essential accessory at some shows.   █░█
         █░█    Leah sings songs that are haunting, intelligent    █░█
         █░█    and beautiful, like the long lost love-child of    █░█
         █░█    Jason Molina and Joni Mitchell.                    █░█
         █░█                                                       █░█
         █░█    Raised in South-Central Burnaby, Leah graduated    █░█
         █░█    from the Langley Fine Arts high school music       █░█
         █░█    program with scholarships up her wazoo. After her  █░█
         █░█    quick disillusionment with higher education        █░█
         █░█    (after too many philosophy classes at the          █░█
         █░█    University of Victoria), Leah decided to take      █░█
         █░█    classical voice and music at Capilano College      █░█
         █░█    with the misguided intention of becoming a music   █░█
         █░█    therapist. After this plan inevitably failed,      █░█
         █░█    Leah joined Dyad, an old-time Appalachian band,    █░█
         █░█    kept playing solo, and started to run Copperspine  █░█
         █░█    Records with her friends.                          █░█
         █░█                                                       █░█
         █░█    In 2002, Leah released her first independent CD    █░█
         █░█    EP, 8 Songs from the Attic. 8 songs charted for    █░█
         █░█    several months on Canadian campus radio stations   █░█
         █░█    CKMO (reached #1 on the folk chart) and CFUV in    █░█
         █░█    Victoria, CFBX in Kamloops, and CIUT in Toronto.   █░█
         █░█    Leah has also toured solo in BC, across Canada in  █░█
         █░█    the summer of 2003, and most recently in the       █░█
         █░█    Czech Republic and Germany in 2004. Leah Abramson  █░█
         █░█    also likes to stay active in her community; she    █░█
         █░█    is the co-creator of the Wimmin in Music showcase  █░█
         █░█    series in Victoria and collaborates with local     █░█
         █░█    comedians, filmmakers and musicians, frequently    █░█
         █░█    lending her talents to non-profit initiatives.     █░█
         █░█                                                       █░█
         █░█    When Leah Abramson is not living, working,         █░█
         █░█    writing or performing solo and with Dyad, she is   █░█
         █░█    singing songs in her bedroom and trying not to be  █░█
         █░█    a hermit. Leah has evil plans to release her       █░█
         █░█    first full-length album in 2005 on Copperspine     █░█
