A massive batch of electric tunes -- from one of the
greatest funky jazz labels of all time -- the mighty
mighty Groove Merchant! The label's name certainly
fit, as Groove Merchant was on top of the funky game
in the early and mid 70s -- crafting grooves that
matched CTI and Kudu for tight electric power, and
which also often had the rougher feel of some of the
soul jazz indies. This track's a great sampling of the
range of work from the label -- and features nearly 80
minutes worth of music, a range of hand-picked tracks
that are some of the label's best! Every cut's a funky
winner, and there's 18 titles in all.
