it's a well-deserved title for this tasty set! The CD
brings together 20 tracks from the legendary
Perception and Today labels -- home to some of the
most messed-up funk of the early 70s -- and a
motherlode of wonderful work that crossed a variety of
different genres! Tracks here effortlessly skip
between jazz funk, jazz rock, soul jazz, and jazzy
soul -- all in a tripped-out brew of tunes that really
goes over the top of the funky basket! Some of the
cuts on the set have been reissued before, but the
overall way they're put together here is really great
-- and brings out the best aspects of the label in a
blistering array of music that runs for nearly 80
minutes long!
