░  Chain are pioneers of Australian Blues.                                    ░

░  After an earlier incarnation, Phil Manning - ex-member of the Bay City     ░
░  Union - asked Matt Taylor to become a full-time member. They wrote 'Black  ░
░  And Blue' at their first practice. Then a young promoter by the name of    ░
░  Michael Gudinski became their manager and Chain were the first band, and   ░
░  to date the only band, to go to No.1 with a blues song.                    ░

░  The song was genuine Australian blues. A chain gang song about the         ░
░  convict past with authentic roots, it struck a raw chord with young        ░
░  suburban audiences. 'Black And Blue' sat at the top of the charts for 18   ░
░  weeks before being squeezed out by Daddy Cool's, 'Eagle Rock'.             ░

░  The classic 'Towards The Blues' album (which hit ARIA gold in 1998) was    ░
░  released in 1971 and went to No.6 nationally.                              ░

░  The band ironically broke up from the pressures to perform that success    ░
░  had brought. Although different combinations of Chain formed to tour and   ░
░  record, an official version of Chain didn't emerge again until 1984.       ░

░  Festival Mushroom Records have re-released 'Toward the Blues' plus a few   ░
░  extra songs to celebrate thirty years since 'Black And Blue' was No.1.     ░
