Edgar Froese was born in East Prussia in 1944
and for many is the main contributor to
world-renowned electronic band Tangerine
Dream. In fact Edgar has been the only
constant in the bands thirty plus year career
and he still leads the band through numerous
recordings and concert dates these days
alongside his son Jerome.
With Tangerine Dream Edgar has established
not only Tangerine Dream as the leading
electronic band in the world but also himself
as one of the key composers and musicians of
the genre. Recording in excess of thirty
albums over the years including countless
soundtrack albums for many successful films
the band has enjoyed prolonged success from
its earliest days in the seventies and can
still command a large and loyal audience the
world over.
Whilst Tangerine Dream were establishing
themselves in the early seventies Edgar
Froese whilst universally acknowledged as the
leader of Tangerine Dream decided he would
also like to have a solo career which would
run parallel with the career he had with
Tangerine Dream. Edgar released his first
solo album Aqua in 1974.
By The time of Edgar's third solo album Ages
Tangerine Dream were highly regarded the
world over as one of the foremost bands in
electronic music and any release from the
band or a member of the band was always well
received. Ages was a double album in the days
of vinyl. This recording has been partly re
recorded, re mixed and re mastered for
release. Ages features Edgar Froese on all
instruments save for drums and percussion,
which were handled by future Tangerine Dream
drummer Klaus Krieger
