::| Disjecta and Meat Beat Manifesto. Combining heavy, space-filling drum |::
::| sequences -- alternately split- and double-time -- with piles and piles |::
::| of effects units and daubs of ominous synth patches, Witchman lies |::
::| somewhere near the intersection of Jamaican dub, early hip-hop, |::
::| ambient, and the darker side of bleep techno. The singular project of |::
::| one John Roome, Witchman followed Roome's stint as vocalist for |::
::| Terminal Power Company, an industrial metal band. A longtime devotee of |::
::| the Swans and Dead Can Dance, Roome stumbled onto a solo recording |::
::| career by accident, assembling a demo on a whim before landing a |::
::| contract some months later (his aspirations were originally in film). |::

::| Cem "Jammin' Unit" Oral is better known as one half of German |::
::| acid/techno group Air Liquide, but has released more material as a solo |::
::| artist. Recording (as with his partner Ingmar "Walker" Koch) under a |::
::| seemingly endless array of pseudonyms -- including Cube 40, Zulutronic, |::
::| Bionic Skank, G104, and Ultrahigh -- Oral was one of the most prolific |::
::| artists on the early German acid scene and helped organize Koln's |::
::| influential Structure label group (which included the Blue, Structure, |::
::| and DJ Ungle Fever imprints). His more recent work has appeared through |::
::| Sm:)e, Pharma, Force Inc., and once-popular U.K. techno imprint Rising |::
::| High, which released his debut full-length as Jammin' Unit (Jammin' |::
::| Unit Discovers Chemical Dub) in 1995. An active producer and engineer |::
::| since 1991, Oral produced mainstream house and techno for some of |::
::| German's most commercial labels before following his distortion-ridden |::
::| muse in more experimental directions. His nickname Jammin' Unit derives |::
::| in part from the German pronunciation of Cem ("jam"). |::
