In time for the summer, the Trashmonkeys release a
single with two A-sides that both sound just the way
summer guitar pop songs should: laid back, fluffy
and hot.
On ôIsnÆt It Goodö, our garage boys from Bremen have
included a sunny guitar solo that Noel Gallagher
from Oasis didnÆt come up with back in 1995.
ItÆs not so much Oasis, but very much The Coral, who
spring to mind when you listen to the second song
(which, incidentally, just like ôIsnÆt It Goodö, is
also an outtake from the 2004 album ôThe Makerö),
ôCool Autumn Sunö: mellow shanty rhythms,
accompanied by earthy, typically Trashmonkeys organ
runs.
And what a contrast to song number 3, ôSong 1
Remixö: here the Trashmonkeys try their hand at
remixing for the first time, and turn last yearÆs
single ôSong Nr. 1ö into a driving, pounding big
beat piece with piercing guitars, seemingly forcing
your feet onto the dancefloor, as if by magic.
