"Diggin' Up Ghosts" is the third album on Howlin' Records from electronic
/ hip-hop DJ/producer Freddy Fresh. This album is a compilation of various
instrumental outtakes from upcoming rap album by Conductor Crucifieds It's
sort of like Sweeping in the Wind on the MC's new label Stark Ravin'
Records which is due to be released next spring.
Freddy Fresh has been DJing since 1981, playing in some 30 countries and
making music since 1988. Residing in Minnesota, USA he has DJed for Prince

Down Productions (KRS-1), Grandmaster Flash, Schooly D, Eminem, Heaven 17,

Jacknife Lee and many more. In addition he has collaborated with Fat Boy
Slim (Top 40 track in the UK), The Freestylers, Krafty Kuts, Air Liquide
Germany, etc and released under various pseudonyms including Freddie
Fresh, Modulator, Advanced Waveform Synthetix, Boris Karloff and Nitrate.
Freddy has also toured with the Jungle Brothers and his music has been
used in television advertisements for Peugeot, Coors Lite, Ribena, Adidas,
American Express and used in movies such as Austin Powers 3, Jackie Chan's
'Tuxedo' and on the Fox TV network (USA). He also boasts one of the
largest synthesizer collections in the world.
Freddy used to run Analog, Electric Music Foundation (recently
re-started), Butterbeat, Boriqua and currently still Howlin' Recordings.
He has been described as the "Minneapolis B-boy and funk merchant" and he
has released over 200 records on labels such as Eye Q, SINE / Sony,

Pictures, 4AD, DMC, Go Beat, Super Best, EMI, Secret Service, Multiply,

imprints.
From delivering pizza and etching trophy plates for his dad, Freddy has
gone on to make various guises of music including electro, hip-hop,
techno, latino jazz and samba. He has hosted the Annie Nightingale show on
Radio One and has recorded radio mixes for John Peel (Radio 1), Steve
Lamacq, Chris Moyles, played live for Breezeblock, Scotland & IrelandÆ
Radio 1 Sessions, Crash FM (UK), Surf (UK), Kiss (UK), Galaxy FM UK,
Studio Brussel (BE) and Radio 21 (BE) as well as providing Pete Tong
(Radio 1) with one of his most ever requested éEssential SelectionÆ mixes.
Mr Fresh DJed three successful sets at Glastonbury and has also played at
T In The Park, Creamfields, Carling Weekender (Reading & Leeds Festivals),
D Percussion, Jazz & Groove Festival, 10 Days Off, Shine and so
forth...whilst his single "Badder Badder Schwing" with Fat Boy Slim hit
the UK chart at no. 36 and then Norman Cook returned the favour when he
sampled Freddy's answer phone message for his track 'Fatboy Slim is
fucking in heaven' a few years later.
Freddy's previous albums have gained plaudits across the world. From his
debut artist album "Accidentally Classic" (1996) to "The Last True Family
Man" (1999) and beyond his albums have fused electro, breaks, hip-hop,
techno and even latin and samba grooves into the mix.
Here on "Diggin Up Ghosts" we find Freddy in a more contemplative and
downbeat mood as 16 slices of electronica are interwoven with sparse
vocals and effects across 30 minutes of music. And as always, recorded
live with analogue synthsizers and without the aid of computers.
