| "The days rolled by, the rappers rolled in and the music rolled |
| out. Weekends saw water drying up, lights and laptops hiccupping |
| through electricity that flowed less often than hip-hop. |
| Spontaneity and long hours spelled a strong collaborative effort; |
| while some rappers had on-stage experience, others had never even |
| rapped to a beat, but everyone contributed. |

| Every day for a month a piece of the Eastlands voices was sliced, |
| reworked and threaded into the musical composition we now present |
| to you. It is the flame of an international effort to light the |
| candle in a dark place for Nairobi ghetto youth. It is happiness |
| and hope, it is dreams and desire. It is Kilio Cha Haki. A cry for |
| justice". |
