Cyclo Records is a House / Electro label based in London and founded
in July 1998 by 3 Froggies. Philippe Marchal, co-founder and UK
Manager of well-known Parisian label Distance, Emmanuel Perrot who
met Philippe in London while on a training course at Distance UK and
Christophe Thillois currently dormant partner.
Spencer Kincy aka Gemini and JT Donaldson deliver Cyclo's first
project in November 98 with the classic Duality EP, followed by
Johnny Fiasco 'Neurotic Elevations' and the 'Take Your Time' EP by
Tech-House pioneer Gemini who will later release his classic album
'The Music Hall' on the label. However serious business start during
Midem 99 where Cyclo launches the first opus of its album series
'Revolutions' during a memorable party at the club Whisky a Gogo.
This CD featuring some of the best contributors of the new Chicago
sound -Derrick Carter, Gemini, Johnny Fiasco, Bernard Badie, John
Redmond, JT Donaldson and Underground Evolution- will spread the name
of Cyclo within the worldwide House community and draw a number of
other well-known international producers towards the label: Eddie
Matos, Mark Grant, Mazi & Chris Udoh Paul Johnson, Larry Heard.
In the autumn of 1999, Cyclo opens a small office in Paris managed by
Emnanuel while Philippe continues to drive the label from its London
headquarters. This move will reveal significant in Cyclo's
determination to pursue its search of French-New talents: DJ Dan
Ghenacia who delivers 2 EPs and mixes the album 'Revolving House'
for the labels's 2 Years anniversary; South duo SunTrust who after
producing 3 soulful Eps of the highest caliber finally release their
eponymous album in September 2003; School (half of the now famous
Supermen Lovers) with their hefty single 'Ain't No Love' , Dr Drak,
on a harder freaky electro tip, Phil Weeks, and more recently Players
with their killing electro-funk grooves. At the same time Cyclo
collaborates with UK nu-groove collective BRS releasing a bunch of
Eps and their debut album 'Gravity' in May 2003. Selected works from
all these skilful producers can be found on Vol 2 of the
'Revolutions' series.
Despite rumors that House Music is dying, 2005 is going to be another
prolific year for Cyclo, with new artists such as Karma Fever (Bel)
and Love Drop (UK) signed to the labelà
