Biography:
Amongst the 12 inches he released on his labels was 'Snow'. An amazing track under the alias ORN, soon picked up by BMG, and with a great response re-released in 1995. After this Omid signed with EYE Q and the critically acclaimed debut album 'Sounds from another room' was released and created quite a stir in the UK with singles like "Water Ride", going on national radio playlists and TV.
"Too good for words, 16B checks in with an instant house music classic *****" (MIXMAG); "For anyone who likes their music funky, soulful and suburb, an early contender for album of the year" (Melody Maker); "As close as British house has come to matching the classic crossover strategies of Paperclip People or Masters at Work" (The Face).
16B appeared with his full 5 piece band and strings on the Jo Whiley show on channel 4 in June 98', performing 'Wateride' along with Embrace. Played live with the band to a wide audience in the Mass in Brixton, and at the Lollipop festival alongside 'Terry Callier', 'A Tribe Called Quest' and others.
He has been hailed as being 'at the edge of the UK house scene'. His fans range from Sasha to Tenaglia to Francois Kevorkian to Morales to Weatherall to Pete Tong, John Digweed, Danny Howells, Deep Dish, Mr C, to Colin Dale to Ashley Beedle and so on.
Besides being an outstanding producer and remixer (Omid's credits as remixer include a myriad number of artists such as GUS GUS, The Cure, Steve Lawler, John Creamer, among many others) he shows his DJ capacities and his brilliant live performances all over the world, teasing the crowd with his deep and sexy tribal house music and taking them on a journey with his dark and twisted techno.
Headlining at clubs worldwide, his DJ dates and live tours have included stops in Japan, Southeast Asia, Europe, North America and Australia. Omid has played alongside some of the worlds most respected DJ's and played at some of the best parties and events. These include Renaissance (globally), The Bomb, Headstart, The End and AKA (UK), Bedrock (UK), Music Box (Ireland), Chemistry (Holland), Milk Bar (Istanbul), Release (San Francisco), Buzz (Washington, D.C.), Axis (Boston), Centro-Fly (New York), Vinyl (New York), ZOUK (Singapore), and Skansen (Norway). Current club residencies include Elements (London).
Omid recently completed the first Alola mix CD "Everything All Of Them Every Year", showcasing talent on the label.
Currently, Omid finished the long awaited follow up for "Sounds from another room". "How To Live 100 Years" is the new title of the album witch he has been working on for the last three years. Its the first artist album on Hooj Choons and it contains eleven tracks of effortless eclecticism from the beginning till the end. "How To Live 100 Years" is due to be released in October this year.
At the same time dj-ing all over the world and always continuing to update and perfectionize his in-demand live shows. Also working on his first ever high profile double mix CD. The latter CD will feature Omid's DJ sets from clubs worldwide.
