formerly known as the juryman, ian simmonds has recorded a wide
range of unique sounds in the past for labels including !k7 and
ssr. this is his first release for germany's musik krause and it
displays his inventive verve for the previously unheard. opening
with the widescreen spy theme "the dog", the ep then changes down
a gear for the meditative jazz poem that is "international songs".
next comes "the dragon", a simple yet evocative piano and
percussion combo that uses the ekonda women of kinshasa choir to
add extra mystique. finally the label's metaboman duo remix the
title track with some decomposing crunchy tech breaks.
