Started
The group's got their name right on this one -- as Ria sings with the depth of a
classic 70s artist from the Memphis or Miami scene! "Everything Is Gonna Be
Alright" starts slow, and builds with an approach that almost reminds us of the
first Aretha Franklin recordings for Atlantic -- as Ria's vocals step out front
of spare guitar and organ instrumentation, while Sweet Inspirations-like vocals
come in on the chorus! "You Got Me Started" is harder and funkier -- done with a
groove that's almost in People Records territory -- including some very JBs-like
horns!
Sharon Jones style authentic soul funk on Freestyle seven inch.
More eclectic beats from the Freestytle label - this time they have gone down
the Daptone route with a proper live funk track (be warned - my copy has the
labels on the wrong side!) while the flip is an acoustic bluesy soul belter.
