It's that man Dominic Stanton, aka Domu, again! Here he teams up once again with
Robert Marin as Bakura and drops four tracks for Especial taken from their
upcoming "Reach The Sky" album. The sampler opens with the ace jazzy, funky
disco cut "Play Tha Game" which features vocals by Nicola Kramer. This is
followed by the frantic nu-jazz breaks of "Bada", sweet house cut "Lately"
featuring vocals from Sophie Ripley and 70s style speedy latin-jazz fusion bomb
"Gregarious". All are fantastic of course - Especial is a label that always has
an eye on the quality control.
This remarkable Japanese imprint returns with a rather tasty album preview from
Domu and Robert MarinÆs jazz-kissed Bakura project. Play Tha Game encourages the
listener to join the entertainment, courtesy of fattened drums, flute niceness
and key wiggles. Bada is an energetically percusive number, where liquid keys
and a friendly sax dance, whilst Lately struggles to control an insatiable
flute. Gregarious rounds off the EP with some fast and furious drumming and
fuzzy synths.
