Master cassette manipulator Stuart Chalmers returns with his
first release of 2018 after a prolific output last year. AWHR
displays a highly focused set of linear sonic textures from
Chalmers, continuing where his 'Loop Phantasy no.4' album on
Chocolate Monk left off. Although made with his usual setup of
tapes, pedals and analogue four-track, these are far less
figurative compositions than before, showing no trace of any
original source material. They are evolving, organic and glassy
snapshots that remind one of Autechre's 'Confield' just as much
as any minimalist classical tape experiments.
