█│ humble Frenchman with an unquenchable thirst for new │█

█│ excited by my new CD,ö says David. ôWhen I play, itÆs │█
█│ always between house and electro but I do play much │█
█│ harder now. Not æboom boomÆ hard but exploring the │█
█│ darker, twisted side. So the first CD reflects my │█
█│ house background. Blaze and æPump Up The JamÆ are │█
█│ typical of what youÆd hear at Pacha while the second │█
█│ CD has a more international, electro vibe.ö │█

█│ Having held one of the best parties of the Winter │█
█│ Conference at Mansion in Miami (where he showcased the │█
█│ dreamy vocals of Juliet long before her single │█
█│ æAvalonÆ was a huge club and chart hit), DavidÆs │█
█│ soiree in Paris perfectly sums up the acid house │█
█│ spirit and glamorous ethos of his parties û GuettaÆs │█
█│ musical guests on the night are Vitalic, Martin │█
█│ Solveig, Audio Bullys and Mylo. The first of the three │█
█│ Pacha Ibiza events of '05 was co-hosted by the │█
█│ flamboyant, eccentric skirt-sporting French designer │█
█│ Jean Paul Gaultier, with regulars and fellow French │█
█│ stars, Bob Sinclar and Martin Solveig joining David on │█
█│ deck-duty. Who said acid house couldnÆt be fashionable │█
█│ as Fuck? │█

█│ These things donÆt happen by accident, of course. │█
█│ David Guetta was just thirteen years old when he │█
█│ started DJing. ôMy first job was in a gay club,ö he │█
█│ remembers. ôMy roots were funk, but through this I │█
█│ discovered a new culture where they introduced me to │█
█│ electronic music through New Wave.ö By 1988 he was │█
█│ playing at the best clubs in Paris ôand I realised │█
█│ that people were following me. So I went to the owner │█
█│ û because at that time the owner would tell you what │█
█│ to play û and I said ælisten, your club is empty, let │█
█│ me promote a night and play what I wantÆ, which was │█
█│ house music. The only problem was I wanted to play │█
█│ every record I could find in Blackmarket Records!ö │█
█│ │█

█│ Soon David was the toast of Paris û both as a DJ and │█
█│ also the promoter who brought acid house parties to │█
█│ the capital in 1988 - but in true entrepreneurial │█
█│ style, he wanted more. The next breakthrough came via │█
█│ Ibiza in the mid-nineties. ôI wanted to prove to the │█
█│ rest of the world that we had some great French DJs. │█
█│ Unfortunately at this time, the English had a real │█
█│ feeling of superiority. So in 1997 we took Daft Punk │█
█│ to Privilege. They said æyouÆll never pack the club!Æ │█
█│ and wanted to give us the small room. We said æwe need │█
█│ the big room!Æ And they said æeverybody says that!Æ û │█
█│ but we proved them wrong and filled the venue - which │█
█│ only Manumission had done before. From this moment, │█
█│ being French was not such a shame any more and people │█
█│ took us seriously. │█
