"Credit To The Edit Volume One" is the first anthology to collect
Greg Wilson's seminal work and release it legally.
Released on Tirk - the new label from the people behind Nuphonic -
the "Credit To The Edit" series should, in much the same way as
Nuphonic's "The Loft" series did, go on to become a staple of any
serious dance fans record collection.
Greg Wilson is a dance music pioneer in the mould of David Mancuso,
Kool Herc or Ron Hardy. Via his residencies at Manchester's
"Legends" and "The Hacienda", Greg Wilson virtually introduced
black electronic dance music to the UK, back in the summer of 1982.
His pioneering work on just a Revox tape deck and two Technics
turntables, crafting one off DJ re-edits, virtually wrote the
rulebook for DJs, remixers and dance producers. This 15 track
unmixed CD includes some of Greg's classic disco re-edits including
favourites from Salsoul, West End, well known disco anthems such as
Chic & Chaka and also more up-to-date tracks like Chicken Lips "He
Not In".
These edits virtually wrote the rulebook for DJ's, re-mixers and
producers growing up and going out in early 80s Britain. This
career defining anthology, released to coincide with his recent
return to the clubs, showcases Greg's 80s edit style and how this
cut up approach influenced everyone from Fatboy Slim and Coldcut to
today's stars such as Optimo (Espacio) and 2 Many DJs.
