Chi Vampires is one of New Zealander Campbell Kneale's key
releases, collecting disorientating clusters of pink
overtone, slow, lamenting strings, repeating reeds, piano
(used in a way that somehow conjures that weird
end-of-land melancholy of much of Neu '75), organ drone
and grids of burbling electronics that slowly build into
an out-of-nowhere explosion of doom-driven guitar that
parallels much of his more recent work as Black Boned
Angel. The vaguely-Satanic, Crowley-esque vocals at the
end are just so much gravy .Yee-haw.
