Six friends with the same goal, to tell a story
through songs. No hidden agenda, simply to explain.
TheAllNewAdventuresOfUs (TANAOU) formed in 2002 merely
to record an EP that was in the process of being
written by Paul & Jamie. Members were borrowed from
other bands, the EP was finished, recorded and
released on Paul & JamieÆs own Paper Scissor Stone
label as æThe Primary Colours Series: Extended Play
Number OneÆ. The EP received rave reviews from the UK
indie press, including Fracture, Rancid News, UK Base,
Play Dead, etc; which consequently lead to the
borrowed rhythm section, becoming a permanent part of
the band. TANAOU played its first shows in 2003 once
piano/keyboardist Phil Spry joined the band. The band
then recorded the Kissing Chaos Part One sessions for
a planned split release but decided not to release it
due to various problems with the line up and not being
comfortable with where the sound of the band was
heading. This in turn lead TheAllNew AdventuresOfUs
to call it quits.
A few months down the line some of the
ex-TheAllNewAdventuresOfUs members, decided to start a
new band. The idea was to revert back to basics, with
very traditional song writing at the base and then to
build upon it with whatever each song needs, opposed
to always having set people/instruments in every song.
The new band was named Tanaou. After various demo
sessions and a few more jolts in the line-up, Tanaou
flew to Northern Sweden in March 2004 to record the
debut EP at Tonteknik Recording AB (Starmarket,
Fireside, Cult Of Luna etc) with producer Magnus
Lindberg. The EP was called æThese Songs Are Our Only
AlibisÆ and was released on UK Indie label Bravestar
Records.
A few members and a tour later; the band headed back
to Sweden (April 2005) to work on the debut
full-length, which is set for a release later this
year, with support singles.Tanaou is about imagery;
itÆs about trying to make people see clearly with
their eyes closed.
