Release Notes:

William Bates covers itself with warm jangling
guitars, a keen sense of fetching vocal arrangements
and classic pop melodies and reminds us a lot of
Bill Retoff and, vocally, Van Dyke Parks. Actually,
VDP works quite nicely with pinning down the driving
force of much the music on "Ready", as I would
venture to guess Bates is quite the Beach Boys fan.
Listen to the third song here "Ready By Nine" and
reach for "Pet Sounds" for the upteenth time. In its
strongest moments, that is the effect "Ready" will
have - evoking faves in everyone`s collections and
giving homage and praise to great pop music`s
timeless qualities. The DIY charms here are
commanding and competently achieved and fans of
indie-power pop will find William Bates to command
your attention and most pleasant home-spun
experience.
