The actual factual centre of the National Forest is
on the border between Leicestershire and Derbyshire
and is marked by a tree with obligatory plaque. So
what do you think is right behind this symbolic oak?
That's right; an open-cast mine. Very nice. In
contrast to this, Manchester's National Forest make
shiny electro(nica)-pop-folk that has seen him
remixing the likes of Scissor Sisters and Elbow...
But let's not hold that against the chap. Featuring
Matthew Greener on vocals, 'In Your Make Up' is
brimming with crumbly beats and expansive backing,
whilst of the others 'Windmill' makes the biggest
impact through its spidery use of digital effects.
Actually very nice indeed.
