The two previous Shoes 12"s feature the somewhat dodgy Moodymann and Amerie
remixes, so hopes weren't so high for the third. But no fear, because they
finally hit the spot with two fab re-edits of the Very Reverend's "Love &
Happiness". The A-side has a dawdling blues-soaked 4/4 that verges on the vibe
of that ace Van Morrison / Street Choir mix from a few years back, with extra
f#cked-with vocal edits. Mix two is a shorter version featuring a weird
amplified live sound and scored breaks that give off a tremendous atmospheric
effect. Amen to that.
