New label specialising in rare & unreleased funk gems, launched by Daddy Bones
of Grand Slam magazine. The first release is a true exclusive û a previously
unheard mess of scratchy california funk, taken from a lone double-sided 8-inch
acetate cut at hollywoodÆs goldstar studios, possibly recorded in the late
1960s. The song was not published and almost certainly never pressed û the
acetate likely being the only lasting document of Troubled SoulÆs perhaps only
recording venture, surviving since then in the hands of a british record dealer.
now remastered, it is ready for the broadcast it never had. About the singer and
his band, nothing is recorded for posterity, but it sounds like they may have
been somewhat intoxicated that fateful day and that their raw, delightfully
amateur romp deserves the outing it never got back then.
