Dope debut release from DC area new comer KID GUSTO. Killer up beat tracks with
latin, funk, and dub samples over funky ass beats. Very much in the vein of
other DC residents ALL GOOD FUNK ALLIANCE (who had his remix of JEFF SETTLE
alongside FORT KNOX) and FORT KNOX, but combined with the slamming sampledelic
sound of BEATFANATIC and FREDDIE CRUEGER. Starting with the upbeat latin cowbell
driven "BASSCOMB EXPRESS" and grooving into the JAMES BROWN edit "HOLY BROWN"
this EP starts with a bang. The B-side cuts of "MANHA DE CARNAVAL" and the dubby
"COMEALONG" round it out nicely with more melodic, melancholy vibes. A highly
recommended 12" from an artist to watch!
