Ask your favorite modern R&B artist where they draw inspiration
or who their influences are and you might hear them say Jodeci,
Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson or if they know they're
stuff...Donny Hathaway. All of which are amazing artists that
paved the way and broke barriers for some of today's R&B, Soul
and Pop frontrunners. However, if you ask a certain eclectic,
rebellious punk from Southern California that same question,
you'd be in for quite a surprise. Chase Aaron grew up immersed in
many musical stylings. From the tropical sounds of Basia, to
melodious gospel artist Fred Hammond, to the grungy influence of
Nirvana, Chase has drawn inspiration from many areas to craft his
sound. He calls it "edge", a dark, yet refreshing "middle finger"
to the rules of genre classification we haven't had the luxury of
experiencing until now. Serving as his own producer, songwriter,
engineer, creative director and graphic artist makes Chase Aaron
R&B's alternative, one-stop shop artist to watch.
