Matthew Herbert's production on Moloko songstress Roisin Murphy's new
debut solo full length "Ruby Blue" finds the perfect happy medium
between the typical Herbert variety of quirky, jazzy microhouse and
the more marketable assortment of sophisti-pop. "If we're in Love"
has seen a 12-inch release with two remixes, one by Herbert and the
other by Dani Siciliano, Herbert's longtime collaborator and spouse.
Siciliano's "What Will Be Will Be" remix reconfigures the tune into a
leftfield 6/8 dance number. One might easily assume the rehash was
done by Herbert himself, as the familiarly unstable song foundation
and occasional vocal cutup stammering are both present (along with
other select Herbertisms).
