::| Founded in '94 by Tsuyoshi Suzuki and John Perloff, Matsuri emerged |::
::| into the growing global trance movement with shining examples of |::
::| high-quality psychedelic music. After releasing several instant |::
::| classics from Transwave, Power Source, Witchcraft, Kailash, and Prana, |::
::| the label began to explore new style fusions and abstract broken beats |::
::| with Digitalis, Psyburbia, Syrinx, Ju Ju Space Jazz, and Ubar Tmar. |::
::| The label winded down with its last few (bizarre) releases in '99 as |::
::| Tsuyoshi grew disinterested with the label and began to carry on new |::
::| exploits in the high-profile international DJ circuit. Matsuri's death |::
::| is mourned by many, as few labels have redefined and innovated so |::

::| Ecliptic was created originally as a soundtrack for the Paris debut of a|::
::| collection by designer Issey Miyake. While billed as a "psy-trance" DJ, |::
::| Suzuki's choice of works for this collection is much more eclectic, and |::
::| tends to stay away from the mind-numbing monotony of many DJ mixes. |::
::| Starting with "Electric Garden" by electronic and Krautrock legend |::
::| Conrad Schnitzler, the mix builds from an unexpected experimental and |::
::| ambient base, allowing the beats to filter in slowly as the disc |::
::| progresses. Also refreshing is Suzuki's habit of letting most of the |::
::| tracks play out to their full length rather than cramming snippets of as|::
::| many tracks as possible into the set which seems to be the norm on these|::
::| DJ releases. It's nice to find a DJ that recognizes the ability to |::
::| create a mood with the music is just as important as being able to |::
::| beatmatch. |::

::| Miyake Men's clothing range, this set is a classic example of the |::
::| creation of a psychedelic trance atmosphere. Starting off extremely |::
::| chilled and wending through several dubby-trance pieces, it eventually |::
::| ends with hard psychedelic trance. The only fashion show I would ever |::
::| want to attend, I bet... |::

::| An extremely exotic mix. Starts out slow and abstract, speeds up during |::
::| the fifth track. First half is way out, lots of noise and harsh |::
::| soundscapes, vivid sonic imagery. The last half of the mix is sort of |::
::| the same as the first half of the mix but with intense beats, tons of |::
::| energy, and a good deal of off-the-wall sonic creativity. |::
