Lead singer Eddie Holloway wrote and recorded "Baby Don't Cry" in
1965 while a member of Miami-based R&B group The Soul Pleasers.
Here Jazzman's Funk 45 offshoot include this original version on
the flipside to the more well-known funk version recorded by his
later band, the Third Guitar. This was also recorded in Miami,
although it was released on Jack Taylor's New York-based Rojac
label in 1968. The record saw national distribution, though like
the other Third Guitar 45s for Rojac, it did not hit despite their
best efforts to choose a hard funk number which was the 'in' sound
of the time.
